Wattanapat Hospital Phuket brings a private hospital to Kamala
A listed hospital group has invested about THB 1.2 billion in a 200-bed hospital in Kamala. What it means for living and investing on the west coast.
Wattanapat Hospital Trang (WPH), a private hospital group listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, has built Wattanapat Hospital Phuket in Kamala, Kathu district. The hospital’s website lists a 24-hour emergency and trauma centre, specialist clinics and health check packages.
The company approved about THB 1.2 billion for the project in November 2024: around 9 rai of land (THB 370 million), construction (THB 540 million) and medical equipment (THB 290 million). In June 2025 it said the hospital is designed for 200 beds, with 100 available at first.
What this means for buyers and investors
Kamala becomes easier to live in year-round. Before this, Kamala residents drove to Patong or Phuket Town for hospital care. Emergency care in the area matters for retirees and families, who are the long-stay tenants that keep homes rented outside the high season.
It supports demand, it doesn’t create it. A hospital won’t make prices jump, but it removes a common reason buyers chose other areas over Kamala.
Check the distance yourself. “Near the hospital” is useful only if the drive is short at peak times. We can show you the route when you view a property.
